On Sunday 8th September, our Managing Director John Heward took to the streets for this years Great North Run.
The annual half marathon between Newcastle and South Shields is one of the UK’s biggest running events, this year saw around 55,000 take part.
John chose to run and raise sponsorship to support Secondary 1st, a charity whose mission is to help fund vital research into the prevention, diagnosis and causes of secondary (metastatic) breast cancer and the development of more effective treatments.
This is a charity that is close to our hearts as a business, you can read our fully story about why we are supporting this fantastic cause all year round.
John said: “I cant express what a truly amazing event this is, it really brings out the best of the North East.
It was the most challenging run I’ve undertaken, but for the most worthy cause and though I suffered during the race and I’m hobbling around today I really did enjoy every minute of it.
I am looking forward to doing better in the next one!
PS I’d especially like to thank the family with the Ice lollies around the 11 Mile mark, it made me smile when I thought my right leg was falling off!”
