Stockton based JH Mechanical Services has recently been named in the Top 200 UK Female Powered Businesses, ranking 72nd out of a total of 200 businesses nationwide.
Carried out by J.P. Morgan Private Bank, the report aims to identify companies where women have had an extensive role in shaping the strategy and success of the business, with rankings decided based on growth in sales, headcount and valuation.
The listing which analyses over 6,000 high-growth UK companies founded, led or managed by women, placed JH Mechanical Services third out of the seven north east companies named in the list.
The mechanical and electrical company was established by husband-and-wife team John and Heather Heward eight years ago, with Heather playing a pivotal role in leading the company’s growth strategy.
JH Mechanical Services has a wide range of clients including Newcastle University, Cleveland Police, Cleveland Fire Brigade, Teesside University, and the Northern Education Trust amongst other long-term clients.
The ambitious company successfully met Beauhurst’s ‘high-growth triggers’ to be named in the rankings, which includes criteria such as receiving significant investment, 10% or 20% year on year growth in headcount or turnover over a three-year period, featuring on one of the UK’s top high growth list and becoming an innovation grant recipient.
Following the news, Heather Heward, finance director at JH Mechanical Services said: “It’s an honour to be named amongst the other successful companies on the list. We’re proud to encourage females in our industry and it’s great to see the rankings recognise this.
“It’s extremely rewarding to hear we’ve been ranked third out of the seven north east businesses mentioned. Our hard work this year in securing new contracts is paying off, we hope to continue this exciting period of growth into the coming years.”
