Stockton mechanical and electrical firm, JH Mechanical Services are walking 10,500 miles to raise money for their chosen charity of the year, Secondary1st.
Over the last year, JH Mechanical Services have been unable to do their usual events to support Secondary1st. The JH team, together with family and friends, will be taking part in a walk/run challenge that will see them walk 500 miles each from April to October, this collectively, will be the equivalent distance of Stockton-on-Tees to Stockton, New South Wales, Australia.
Secondary1st aims to raise funds to undertake research and find better treatments for those who are diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. At present secondary breast cancer is incurable.
Heather Heward, finance director said: “We have supported the charity for two years and wanted our first fundraiser of the year to be tough but rewarding, to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity.
“The research that seeks to change the outcome for those who are diagnosed with the disease; it is a charity close to our hearts at Team JH.”
Maralyn Kalman, Trustee of Secondary1st said: “Secondary1st is so grateful to everyone at JH Mechanical Services for their continuing support and magnificent fundraising. We know that our mission to raise money for vital research into secondary breast cancer, which kills 1,000 women every month in the UK, is very close to their hearts and wish them every success with their “Walk 500 Miles Challenge.”
